Saskia Apon – Sequence 1 Featuring Kyle Moore

This sequence is based on the theme of the first movement of Saskia Apon’s First Trombone Quartet. Big thanks to FluentFriend Kyle Moore for taking the reins this week.

Apon

Saskia Apon is a self taught composer born in the Netherlands. She studied the harp at the Rotterdam Conservatory and was the composer in residence for the Rotterdam Philharmonic Brass. Her trombone quartet has grown to be a pillar of the standard repertoire.

Sequence

Sequencing this ominous but familiar sounding melody will help you work on your legato playing, pacing through long phrases, and time. It is spooky, and can feel slow, but keep it moving so it doesn’t become a dirge.
