This sequence is the funky bass line from Vulfpeck‘s “Lost My Treble Long Ago” played by groundbreaking bassist, Joe Dart.
Background
Vulfpeck has been my favorite band for the last 5 years or so. One of my closest music friends recommended them while dropping me off at LAX and my flight back to Chicago turned out to be a turning point in my musical listening life.
Their infections grooves have grown to be my go-to musical pick me up for any situation: long drives, cleaning my house, workouts, dinner parties, and just about every other situation you could imagine. I love how their instrumental songs can add some background color to your day, or provide limitless depth for a focused listening session.
The biggest reason I am drawn to them is because each member of the band plays every song as if they are a soloist. Reminiscent of the mind blowing virtuoso band members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse, Vulfpeck somehow gets their squad of soloists to fit together to create a product so fun, you can’t help but want to dance or sing along.
Bassist Joe Dart has a special knack for bass fills that get me fired up, wanting to practice, and grateful that I get to play music every day.
Sequence
Strive for a rounded, punch, and deep sound to match Dart’s signature bass sound. Make sure to keep your pulse steady and grooving.
